Yangon Echoes – The Book
Being an unprecedented work of oral history of Yangon it captures the life of people living behind the beautiful facades of Yangon’s heritage buildings; their joy, tragedy, simple pleasures and aching issues. Told with courage and charm, their informal tales linked the past with the present via living memories. Candidly sharing their intimate thoughts and feelings, we see their life through Yangon’s rapid emergence from decades of stagnation.
Virginia Henderson collaborates with local communities and development agencies to facilitate and document cultural projects. A trained oral historian, she has a doctorate in heritage management.
Tim Webster, photographer and writer, has a background in archival heritage documentation, education and physics.
